Championship Links Along Scotland’s Golf Coast

Scotland’s Ayrshire coast is one of the most historic regions in the game of golf.
This stretch of coastline southwest of Glasgow is home to several legendary championship venues, including Royal Troon, Trump Turnberry and Prestwick Golf Club, where the very first Open Championship was played in 1860.
Beyond the golf, the region offers rugged coastline, historic castles and deep connections to Scotland’s cultural heritage.
Sightseeing: Culzean Castle

Perched dramatically above the cliffs overlooking the Firth of Clyde, Culzean Castle is one of Scotland’s most impressive historic estates.
The castle sits within a vast 600-acre country park filled with woodland trails, gardens and coastal viewpoints. Visitors can explore the 40+ buildings and follies, as well as enjoying the beaches, The Swan Pond and The Walled Garden
Travel Tip: Arrive early and dedicate a full day to fully experience this stunning landmark.
Sightseeing: Turnberry Lighthouse Walk

One of the most scenic walks in Scotland runs along the coastline beside Turnberry Golf Links.
The path leads to the iconic Turnberry Lighthouse, which sits on a rocky promontory, offering spectacular views across the sea toward the Isle of Arran. On clear evenings, the sunsets here are remarkable.
Travel Tip: The lighthouse also offers a luxury two-bedroom suite, known as the Suite at Turnberry Lighthouse, for those seeking a unique stay.

The Lochranza Distillery & Visitor Centre, owned by the award winning Isle of Arran Distillers Ltd, is situated in the beautiful village of Lochranza at the north end of the Isle of Arran. The Visitor Centre is open 7 days a week and CASKS cafe is open 5 days a week. Distillery tours and whiskey tastings are available.
